JAK Sea Water System

The JAK-Sea Water Intake and Cooling System is a NEW concept for ballast water intakes and cooling systems.

Ballast System

In ballast system application, the ballast water enters through the JAK system pump. This eliminates the need for ballast water intake chests and a connecting manifold.

The forward end of the engine room is no longer needed for large suction pipelines with valves, equipment and fittings. The vacated space can be used for other equipment, or indeed to shorten the engine room.

Heating coils, air blow connections etc. in the sea chest are no longer needed.

Cooling System

Intake and Cooling System

There will always be an optimum flow in the cooling system as the speed of the electrical pump motors are frequency controlled. Power consumption is controlled and kept at the optimum level.

The JAK Cooling System is well suited for all types of vessels, such as fast ferries, ro-ro-vessels, tankers, cruise vessels, offshore supply vessels, etc. as well as ice going vessels, since no extra cooling tank is required.

The water intake flow in the JAK system is below 0.1 m/s even at 100% load due to the large free area of the grating openings. The low suction rate results in less impurities and ice getting sucked into the chest, thus preventing clogging the filters.

The JAK Inlet Filter mesh is made of titanium and its free area is much larger (normally ten times larger) than in conventional filters.
